Welcome to the Healthy and Active Communities Initiative website!

The Healthy and Active Communities (H&AC) Initiative, funded by the Missouri Foundation for Health (MFH), is designed to target communities across Missouri that may be at an increased risk for obesity. To address the issue of obesity, the H&AC Initiative supports community-based organizations implement healthy eating and physical activity programs as well as environmental and policies changes to support behavior change.

Goals of the H&AC Initiative

• The Initiative has a sustained impact on healthy eating/active living for communities in Missouri by supporting promising environmental and policy change strategies.

• The Initiative cultivates strong local/regional and state partnerships which support the development and sustainability of healthy and active communities in MO.

• Position MO as a leader in building and promoting healthy and active communities.

Policy Lift: a free online policy resource that helps local policy makers and leaders develop and strengthen obesity-related policy for schools, after-school and childcare facilities, staff wellness, and local governments and communities. Policy Lift is the only resource of its kind that helps Missourians assess and create obesity-related wellness policy designed specifically for their environment.
